Spinal cord stimulation method

At the present time method of epidural spinal cord electrostimulation is chosen on cerebral palsy, chronic pain and spasticity after spinal cord injury treatment. Method is based on decrease of spasticity by influence of weak electric impulses on nervous structures (cells and pathways).

Implanting system for epidural electrostimulation of spinal cord consists of 3 parts: electrodes, extension and impulse generator. The procedure of system implantation is safe for spine and doesn't lead to disfunction of nervous system conductivity. Materials from which electrodes and other implanting components are made do not hurt the organizm. Operation effect appears in first couple of hours. Operation is conducted by neurosurgeon. We use "Medtronic" (USA) systems in our clinic.

  • Absence of dyskinesia
  • Absence of effect of conservative antispastic therapy
  • Young age of patients (3-5 years old)
  • Absence of orthopedical operations in anamnesis

  • Test stimulation.
  • Neurostimulator implantation.
  • Choosing stimulation program.
